This is the complete standard kitchen cabinet sizes chart — every height, depth, and width, for every cabinet type. These are industry standards. They apply whether you are buying stock cabinets from a big box store, RTA cabinets online, or wholesale cabinets from our warehouse.

1. Base Cabinet Dimensions
Base cabinets do the heavy lifting. They carry the countertop, the sink, and the cooktop, and they define the entire footprint of the kitchen.
How tall are base cabinets? (Kitchen Base Cabinet Height)
The standard height of kitchen base cabinets is 34.5 inches. That is the cabinet box alone. Add a standard 1.5 in. countertop and the finished working height is 36 inches — the number every appliance in your kitchen is built around.
This is not arbitrary. A dishwasher, a slide-in range, and a wine cooler are all manufactured to slide under a 34.5 in. cabinet run and sit flush with a 36 in. counter. Deviate from it and your appliances will not fit.
How deep are base cabinets?
24 inches. The countertop typically overhangs by about 1 in., so the finished depth from wall to counter edge is roughly 25 inches.
Shallow base cabinets exist at 12 in. and 18 in. for tight galley kitchens and islands, but they are the exception. If a plan does not say otherwise, assume 24 in.

2. Wall Cabinet Dimensions
Wall cabinets hold your daily storage and set the visual line of the kitchen.
Wall cabinet depth
12 inches standard. This is deliberate: a deeper upper would put the cabinet in your head while you work at the counter below.
The exception is a refrigerator wall cabinet, which is 24 in. deep so it sits flush with the front of the fridge rather than leaving an awkward recess.
Wall cabinet height — which one do you need?

The standard clearance between the countertop and the bottom of a wall cabinet is 18 inches. This leaves room for a coffee maker or a stand mixer while keeping the lowest shelf within reach. Some designers push it to 20 in. above a cooktop for ventilation clearance — check your range hood spec.

3. Tall & Pantry Cabinet Dimensions
Tall cabinets — pantries and oven cabinets — give you the most storage per square foot of floor space in the kitchen.
- Height: 84, 90, or 96 in. Pick the one that aligns with the top of your wall cabinets. A 96 in. pantry reaches a standard 8 ft ceiling with no gap. An 84 in. pantry leaves room above for crown moulding.
- Depth: 24 inches, matching your base cabinets so the run stays flush. Shallow 12 in. pantries exist for narrow spaces.
- Widths: 18, 24, 30, 33, and 36 in.
Single door or double door?
Below 24 in. wide, a single door is fine. At 30 in. and up, one door swings far into the room and blocks half the opening — double doors split the swing and open the full interior at once.
Oven cabinet sizing
An oven pantry has a cut-out for a built-in wall oven. Standard cut-out widths are 30 in. and 33 in. Measure your oven's rough opening spec, not the oven's outer dimension — they are different numbers.

4. Bathroom Vanity Dimensions
Vanities are the one cabinet most people get wrong, because the standard changed about twenty years ago and half the internet still quotes the old number.
- Height: 34.5 in. (36 in. with countertop). This is comfort height and it now matches kitchen base cabinets. The legacy standard was 30 to 32 in., sized around children.
- Depth: 21 in. — three inches shallower than a kitchen base cabinet. You cannot substitute one for the other.
- Widths: 24 to 72 in. 30 in. and 36 in. are the most common single-sink sizes; 60 in. is the comfortable double-sink standard.

5. Sink, Drawer & Corner Base Sizes
The standard chart covers the common cases. These are the ones people get stuck on.
Sink base cabinet size
A sink base is 34.5 in. tall and 24 in. deep like any base cabinet, but the interior is open (no shelf, no real drawers — the drawer fronts are dummy panels) to make room for the basin and plumbing.
Standard sink base widths: 30, 33, 36, and 42 in. Rule of thumb: the sink base should be at least 3 in. wider than the sink itself. A 30 in. sink needs a 33 in. base minimum.
Drawer base sizes
Drawer bases come in 2-drawer and 3-drawer configurations. Common widths are 12, 15, 18, 24, 30, and 36 in. A 30 in. or 36 in. two-drawer base is the standard pot-and-pan drawer.

6. Clearances, Toe Kick & The 3-Inch Rule
Toe kick height
The recess at the bottom of a base cabinet is the toe kick. Standard is 4 in. high and 3 in. deep. It exists so you can stand close to the counter without stubbing your toes. This 4 in. is included in the 34.5 in. base cabinet height — it is not added on top.

Standard cabinets come in width increments of 3 inches (12, 15, 18, 21 in. and so on). Your wall will almost never divide evenly into 3 in. increments. Whatever is left over gets closed with a filler strip — usually 3 in. or 6 in. wide, cut to size on site. Every kitchen needs at least one. Order them with your cabinets, not after.
The single most common remodel mistake is measuring the existing cabinets and ordering the same sizes. If the previous install was wrong — and it often was — you will repeat the mistake at full price. Measure wall to wall, floor to ceiling, and note every window, outlet, and duct.
